Mordheim in October at the Square
ALCON, this post has been up for a bit on the SD forum, but I thought I'd post the basics of it here for anyone else who might be interested (Keith is the POC -- his userid is in the quote):
Folks signed up so far:
Sam (High Elves)
Chris (Skaven)
Dale (Bretonnians)
Nate (O&G)
JC (Skaven)
If interested, please let Keith know. More posts to follow with additional rules that Keith has posted.
McSheehy wrote:Mordheim...the one specialist game that got hurt the least from GW's restructuring.
Why?, you may ask...Because a Mordheim warband can easily be fielded using existing Fantasy models with almost no trouble at all. Also the majority of the warbands have a 15 model cap (modifiable and not including hired swords), only a few have a 20 model cap, and some are restricted to 12.
Anyone interested who has not played Mordheim before I suggest you download the rules from GW's specialist site (those rules are the most up to date and the ones we will be using).
In the future I will post a list of the allowed warband types for the campaign along with any other necessary information.

McSheehy wrote:What I'm aiming for with the campaign is a more traditional run of Mordheim. Essentially that means it will actually be set in Mordheim during the story background's time frame (i.e. just before the great civil war in the Empire). I want to focus mostly on warbands that story wise were at Mordheim or at least had a plausible reason to be there.
Also I want to avoid some of the issues that arise with using some of the warband types from other settings. This is because those groups usually prove to be to strong in the city setting.
For now all the warbands from the main rulebook are accepted and I'll be adding to the list shortly in the future.
This link will take you to GW's specialist site where you can find all the different warband types:
Specialist Game Site (Pick UK, not US)
It will be a while before we set any day time for the campaign (the first focus will be for Blood Bowl).
Oh and on a side note I will be tweaking some of the games rules (the main focus will primarily be on point costs for equipment - especially armor which has proven nearly useless in the past). I'll let players know any and all final changes at least a week before the campaign starts (if not sooner).

McSheehy wrote:Actually in practice we've found several of the lists from Empire in Flames, Lustria, and the Khemri settings were to strong especially in the early stages of the game.
They work fine for the more open set-up that comprise those settings, but are more often-than-not too powerful in the more cramped Mordheim venue.
Most of the other war band lists that were developed specifically with Mordheim (original setting) in mind will most likely make the list of acceptable bands with no problems.
Acceptable Lists So Far:
All lists from main Rulebook
Dwarf Treasure Hunters
Orcs & Goblins
Kislev
Averlanders
Ostlanders
Shadow Warriors (limited # of bands allowed - the were not hundreds of wandering Shadow warriors, and they can fit into the events of Mordheim on a limited scale - hell Teclis got involved in the aftermath of the civil war... granted that was because of the war with chaos that soon followed)
Bretonnians (limit # of bands for the campaign - the vast majority of Bretonnians were dealing with their own internal problems at that time. Thess bands can represent followers of Questing Knights whose visions have for some reason lead them to Mordheim)

Re: Mordheim in October at the Square
Most recently he posted that Dark Elves are also allowed and he's reviewing the following bands to see if he wants to allow them after all:
Lustria
Khemri
Empire in Flames bands
I'll update here as he updates the SD posting.
