Air Power, is it worth the points
I know that alot of people have not been using any type air power with their tournament lists. First off, I want to know why? No models or don't think that they are good enough for the amount of points they take? Here is my opinion.First off, I have used limited air in both of my tournament lists and have placed 2nd and 1st in the last two. I think the 135 pts (if I remember the point cost correctly) is well worth it. Most people I have played haven't even brought any anti-aircraft guns. The first tournament, my planes rocked. The second tournament, not as much but I feel that the threat of air power causes the other player to play differently and more conservatively. In the back of their minds, they are always thinking about my 109's. It they are always worried about making sure their guys are spread out enough. So, to me with the success that I have had, I feel they are well worth the points. What's everyone else think??

Re: Air Power, is it worth the points
I agree completely with you on this one.
I always take limited airpower. As the Cossacks don't have much in the way of anti-vechicle I've found that the air support I have has proven time and time again it's useful-ness.
Whenever I face someone with Anti-Air guns I usually rely on my mortar teams or machine gun teams to take them out early on in the game. 90% of the anti-air weaponary your going to see only has a 5+ save unless your taking the big guns, but no one takes those to tournaments since you can't guarantee your opponent using aircraft and then all those points are wasted.
I've found them to be at the least useful and at the best wonderfully effective, I've even knocked out a Tiger with my aircraft before!

I'm going to try air power more. But the times I've used it I've had little success with it, but I normally roll like crap.
Re: Air Power, is it worth the points
Air Power is as good as artillery. I know that Eric and have pummeled each other with air power. It forces you to be more cautious with your formations and makes you spend points on air defense. It can knock out the heaviest tanks as well. I think people dont use it because they think one dimensional. Id love it if I brought air support and my opponent didnt bring any air defense.

How to use a Bayonet
1. Affix bayonet to mounting lug.
2. Charge enemy, keep bayonet between yourself and target.
3. Plunge bayonet into enemy's belly in an upward motion, aiming for vital organs and avoiding ribcage.
4. Repeat as necessary.

I've been on the receiving end of aircraft with no anti-air and I found that the germans' ability to spread out 6 inches is usually enough to almost completely negate the airpower. I can see aircraft being useful against mechanized infantry and tanks but not standard infantry. Just my 2 cents though.

Re: Air Power, is it worth the points
Well I've found the airpower to be useful. It takes out tanks and enemy artillery and it forces units to be pinned, which is always nice especially if my Cossacks are moving in, less fire is good!
Re: Air Power, is it worth the points
Well, i tried airpower and it totally sucked nuts, in all 3 games i played with it, i killed a total of 85 points, is to unreliable and as i Play russians i get 2 turns of use out of it before im to close to call it in. I rather take artillery all the time, and since i can attach AA guns to my artillery i welcome any aircraft to get close to them. Airpower was VERy disapointing.
Re: Air Power, is it worth the points
Ill use my HS-129's in your artillery and we'll see how much it sucks. Look up the Hs-129 its a badass tank buster.

Re: Air Power, is it worth the points
I get 2 37mm aa guns for 45 points, AND i can get a squad of 37 mm AA guns with 4 guns for like 150 points.... bring it flyboy.
Re: Air Power, is it worth the points
I think the problem with the Russians is that most other armies spread thier units enough not to make the Air support worth it. I have to aggree here with Luis. Oh God I am going to hell for actually agreeing with the Commi lover.
I have used Air support a couple of times and it has not been worth it. For the points I am using on the air support i rather get flamers or pioneers.
