Shunt Punch in da Face!

I have always been the one that wants his opponent to bring all their tricks to the table. I always figured the best players would help me become a better player. Even back in the 90's arcade fighting video game days, I always played the best and it made me the best as well. Though this tactic just seems too much. Enabling a first turn assault before you can do anything at all just seems wrong. I am a very RAW guy, but I am having a hard time swallowing this. WhAt do you guys think?

They're gonna have to faq it. I'm sure people are going to abuse this until it gets a correction ( ala doom of Atlanta). Or people will push something forward kill bubble wrap and die promptly; or have initiative stolen from them (why would you do this going second?) And die; or, push forward kill what they want and die afterwards while facing the rest of the army. GK are a bit too expensive to suicide like that. Shunt is a nice ability, but it NEVER works to any ones advantage to have a unit run solo unsupported. BOLS fails. Shocker.

LoL someone beat me to it....LoL oh wells. Least you all know whats coming. I don't think it would ever be a tourney list because as Chris said the models are to expensive to sacrifice but man would it be fun!

Thats the thing though. Theme of this army seems to be; over powered yet expensive for it. Getting the drop on any unit in a GK army is gonna hurt big time.

Not that expensive for a first turn guaranteed kill if they rule that shunt is a 'normal move." Even more BS if that sword indeed does double its str ('dreadnought close combat weapon' on a monstrous creature) like that GW article points out.

Yeah, its just looking like double-autarch reserves mech-eldar is the only way to play these days because they can't take any hits or put out enough of a punch.

Still say the only way to play that book is with henchmen.

Max, not just shoot, but assault as well. Imagine multiple units teleporting behind your tanks on the scout move. Then on first turn they move again to get rear and side shots vs armor. Then assault and it's all auto hit since none of your stuff has moved. With two GMs giving scout out to 2d3 units; that's a hard pill to swallow.

It depends on what its facing. Squadron-ed lemon russes would suffer. Even if it takes out a single landraider its still a good trade. A rhino or a waveserpent however- not so much.
