Grey Knights PlayTest Dex

I've looked it over and it seems decent enough. If your army doesn't pack anti-psyker defense it's going to make for a long game.

Oh and the dread knight is a monstrous creature! Adding to that, these armies are going to be tiny. GK terminators are troops along with regular grey knights. The HQs are absurd.... the elites are stupid too. I see a lot of armies keeping costs down taking Inquisitor Lords as the hqs. We'll see. this is just the play test copy they might have changed a lot of things.

Grey Knights strike squad
20pts/model

storm bolters, psychic powers, Aegis, Prefered enemy (daemons), deepstrike, nemesis force sword, pysk-out grenades, justicar upgrade. Only ten pts for a psycannon.

All for a 4 pt difference. Ridiculous.

Well, leadership 9 is a big downside considering they are always fighting horrors from the warp, and for the psyker tests.

Bah! Massed fire should take care. A smart all comers list with experienced target priority with all armies should be able to handle it. Though a smart player with good experience could rape with the new book. It's all situational and always dependent on dice anyway. If the DE codex trend keeps up, should be a great balanced book.

yeah up for some real abuse.
the vindicare can eliminate invuls for the rest of the game.
the inq. henchmen are gods, 4jakaeros and 7other guys with bolters (possibly rending, possibly 36inch range, and 4 las/multimelta/heavy flamers in a chimera for 200pts or so. oh and you can take that as a troop choice.
a monsterous creature.
the ability to destroy your opponents deepstriking ability.
storm ravens as a fast attack.
30inch perfect move for a number of units to steal your objectives.
it's perfect!
i'm already hunting down monkies with gun models!

oh and the cladious assasin (that anti psyker one), she gets 2 extra attacks for every psyker in 12 inches.....yep.. going to be real fun. I wonder if that psyker you can get 12 of for the henchmen counts?

The play-test dex has to be wrong because that's not even the worst of it.

Its all about the henchman armies taken as troops that don't take a slot with a special character.

We're talking:
6x 9Jokaero
with 54 lascannons/multi-meltas/heavy flamers

or

HQ- Special character
15x Warrior Acolyte (5) w/ plasma or melta
Chimera
125pts each

or

HQ- special character

20x 3 henchmen (12pts)
Razorback (las/plas/whatever)

That deepstrike psychic power thing with auto-misshap within 12" radius is also pretty gay. Two units can block out 90% of the board in Dawn of War leaving only 6" of viable space to deepstrike around the edge.


and god, did anyone read the fluff? Ward is getting worse (if that's possible).

Yeah, there are probably going to be a lot more restrictions in the final release- at least. max special weapons, different point costs, etc.

Begs to question how it even got to playtesting though.

eldar guy is grossly mistaken. you may have 1xhenchmen squad *12 man max(= per inquisior. as an elite.

corteaz makes them a troop choice and lifts the number restriction. so max 8xhenchmen squads 2 as elites and 6 as troops.

i do see the personal telporters that allow an instant 30inch move as being a bit op though ...it's a piece of gear for the gk's though. and is a bit expensive.

Yes, you're right about that. Must of been a mixup between other rumors. For that play-test book though, the whole henchmen section is OP.

Figure of 54 Jokaero is correct though and henchmen are greatly under-priced with way to open ended options. Death cult assassins are also really OP. Cheaper and way better than banshees.

54x35=1890 (if my head math is right) plust corteaz 100=1990....
totally not worth it.
no vehicles, dick armaor saves and a toughness of 3

sure you get 54 las shots, half hit that's 27, 4-5 of those will roll a 1, that's 22 wounds, the guy gets some cover saves or invuls in. wow, a whole 11 things die, i mean great against an all mechanized army but the guys basic soldiers will eat you allive!.

the monkies, imo are good in a group of 2 or 4 in a chimera with a good henchman squad. a few warriors with bolters, a few assasins, and you have (especially with the jacks bonuses) a great shootie and melee squad. for around 150pts. 4jacks=140, chimera naked 55, 4 warriors w/ bolters (20), 3 assasins 45 total=260
now 6 of those is 1560 plus 100 = 1660 and you still have 340pts to buy some other good stuff. like a vinerable dread to give you all that anti psychic crap, and a gk librarian with warpquake to screw deep strikers or that template of fuck you.....you could also get two of those new monsterous creatures......

fact is you're fielding about 13 kps with significant anti armor and infantry abilities in additon to 340 pts of some of the nastiest mother fucking SM's i've seen in a while
