Unofficial Army Books
I found this site here that has some pretty damn cool unofficial warhammer books. Quality stuff with good artwork and decent rules.
Check out the Araby and Nippon books as well as the others, it's pretty cool

Re: Unofficial Army Books
Just remember a good way to turn away new players is to let this get into tournaments. No matter how you present it, the huge unknown factor for a new player facing an unofficial online army book will always come across badly. Fantasy in Miami is almost non existent and needs new players badly.

Re: Unofficial Army Books
when has any one new ever shown up to any WFB tournaments at sunshine. i know you have never have been to one.
What really has killed WFB for a lot of people have been the constant tournaments. I know Dan, Mike and myself are burnt out from running them. I know atlest a handful of people that have stopped playing cause of the monthly tournaments. Also this new edition does not really lend it self to tournaments...main reason why the ETC rules pack is taking a day and forever to come out.

Re: Unofficial Army Books
When I showed up I only got to play a few games against net lists. No clue what I was fighting, confusing and a bad taste in my mouth. Knowing this was allowed in tourneys kept me away. Hence sold my army. Now I want to restart a fantasy army but only to play those I know with armies I know about and not something pulled from the wArp of the nets. Especially for tourneys. For fun, I would play a net list for fun after learning the game more. Though if these net armies are allowed in tourneys; then I won't bother with them. I know I am not the only one.

Re: Unofficial Army Books
Um well three are allowed in the ones that Dan, Mike and myself run.
Dan plays Kesliv. They have an official list made by games workshop but sadly they do not compare to any of the new books. They at one point had there own book back in 4th. It was a white dwarf like most of the books at the time where first White Dwarf articles. I know the thought of GW giving out codexs. But i got of topic, due to the list not getting an update a few folks decided late 6th early 7th to make the living codex. Which is the current one that dan uses which we (Dan,Mike, and myself, the 3 major judges) have worked on updating a few of the rules to fit the new edition. A link is always provided on the fourms for those that care to read it. And we always notify people before hand..And to tell you the truth dans Empire list is fucking broken...trust me you would rather play against the Kesliv book. Hell i bet it twice and draw against once with my bullshit skaven army.
Mike/Dale/Serg/Nate (myself): We play Chaos Dwarves they to have a legal GW list, which are always welcomed in the Ard Boyz. Now the list was taken down by GW in there many updates of the website, but it is still legal in all GW ran events. They just use the new costs provided in the O&G book for the greenskin non hobgoblin units. Now due to the fact of having a two page book/packet a few fellows on the Chaos Dwarf forums deiced that they wanted to make an update due mostly to the delay of the book Engineers of Chaos (if you ever say Beasts of Chaos it's talked about in there). They made it then got all of the major Indy GT runners to approve it, GW even stepped in and gave it a big thumbs up. Thus you have the Indy GT Chaos Dwarf Book. I for one have used but books and found the Indy GT book very well designed. Might need some updating for 8th but no biggie.
Dave/Nate (myself) plays Dogs of War again they got a shittie white dwarf army. Then T&G (warhammer-empire.com) made a more updated version taking elements from the 3 & 5 ed books mixing it with the WD articles. Which to tell you the truth can be a tad broken at times but then again so can Warriors of Chaos or dare i say it Deamons of Chaos! lol Now i do believe my empire is more nasty ask Andrew about it. He said it best he would rather play against my T&G then my Runefang wielding count in 30 great-swords and warrior priest combo. Hell bills list is more nastier, how many guns in the list do you have in that list?????
Which other net lists did you play against????? I know you played against me once a game which you won
. If you only played against me (T&G) then you are telling me that you gave up after one game....seems a tad sad. Also you told me you sold the army to help out your brother due to the fact that he had money troubles........So which one is it??
It is up to the event runners to say which lists are in and which are out. You are more then welcome to run an event if that is how you so feel... Also another reason why you dont see the same crowd for WFB then 40k, is cause the game requires tactics and list building not just list building skills....lol
I hope you understand that i am here to inform and not bitch or pick a fight. To tell you the truth i am enjoying this debit with you about this matter. It is good to see some people finally talking about something that is not 40k on this site.

Re: Unofficial Army Books
Dogs of war. I never got into combat. I started a daemon army yet got cold feet and used them for 40k. Currently I have three 40k armies and if I want a fantasy army, I have to sell one. Orc stuff is kool and that spider is pure win. Orcs are tempting, Joel said he would have the book in tomorrow. Gonna check it out. Truth be told, I don't really care too much what army I play against. I just don't like surprises. Will be looking to you guys though for help in picking an army/shopping list so as to not to waste purchases. The choices for my fantasy army are down to Warriors of Chaos or Orcs. That giant spider is steering me that way.

I have play orc& goblins over the years. I will say this O&Gs will piss you off, i know they have for me. I say play chaos first get conformable with the rules, play a tournament or two. Then start O&Gs trust me on this i think both me and luis will agree. Lets see how shitty the book is, who knows the spider thing might suck monkey balls like the jabberslith. Wait for the reviews to come in on that one....
Time ran out in our game.....

Re: Unofficial Army Books
Dogs of War is not a 'net list, but a list that GW created. It's just gone by the wayside and is no longer seen a lot, just like the Kislev update or the old Chaos Dwarf rules.
Consider it like the Necron book, if they were to stop making Necron mini's and stop printing the book.
Anyways, I don't think I'll ever play the Kislev list in tournaments because of the reasons you mentioned, but because it won't give me the feel I need for larger events (which I like to attend). They are fun lists to play, and realistically for new players, a new army is the same thing as an online dex to them, since everything is new.
