Learning the ropes

Post by KingdomCome on Sat Mar 13, 2010 1:30 am

I played my first game today in front of a packed house (Bill) cheers . I played 1000 points to get my bearings on rules and such against Rufus. Poor guy can't win a match! I got extremely lucky and wiped his tank platoon in a round of shooting with 4 76mm shermans. I look forward to upping my points limit ( JOEL ORDER MY CRAP) and getting into the full swing of things.

Woo! Go Caesar! I have to get to work on my shit.

I have to say, I'm terrified of German Camo and just overall painting at that scale!

There was a lot of FOW players at Sunshine, even Don was there. As I have said in the past, there are plenty of FOW players, you just have to drag them away from the family (typical FOW player is married with kids).

I am surprise Joel didn't have everything in stock, he usually has one to two of each item of the entire catalog.

Joel has admitted that FOW is his third most successful table top game, sometimes pulling of ahead of GW fantasy.

Thanks. I had a great time. The painting seems very simple, unless you wanna put on some extreme detail work. Do you have 1000 points put together? Maybe we can get a pick up game going. I'm still shaky on certain rules and it can only help to play more people. Just make sure Rufus rolls the proper firepower check for his PIAT teams! I still have my tanks in a lovely gray color so you don't have to worry about being looked down upon for not having a painted FoW army.....

*sigh*. Looks like I missed another FOW night. I thought Fridays was Magic night.

SmirkWeasel, actually it happen during the day.

And unless it is a major event (or some other reason from Mr. Sunshine), there usually enough room for just about anything.

I don't know if there is a agreed upon schedule for FOW or if this was a special arrangement between Rufus and Caesar.

Always call ahead of course or check the event calendar.

Mr. Sunshine is an ironic nickname for Joel.

Hence the reason I use it. Although I think "pig-pen" is appropriate also since he has managed to trash the new store in short order and storage can not be blamed this time.

Well, were looking to make Thursdays our gaming day.

But congrats on the victory! The lists are a lot of fun! We'll have to try out a game at 1k to give you a feel for a different army!

Endre its much easier than you think. Try the dipping method. Do your basic colors and dip them. Then just dab off the excess dip with a paper towel. Also my Father-in-law got me one of those big hobby magnifying glasses with the light.

The best magnifying glass on a armature with a florescent light, is at Office Depot for about $50. Its all steel. I have seen similar ones go for $150.

Sorry Kingdomcome, but I see no name brand.
It's located in the lighting section, by the office furniture. Hope that helps.

I always wanted one. I got a plastic\light aluminum version for about $20, what a piece of shit, sorry I got, then I saw this one and purchased it right away. It is on display, at least the store I go too does. Once you see it I believe you will convinced.

Pig-pen is a good name. The only store in town and still can't keep it clean. I will be there with Kingdomdork this Thursday to play in the early afternoon. I have British and Germans 2000 points. Kingdomdork will be there with 2000 points of Americans.
