The Rohirrim

Post by McSheehy on Wed Oct 07, 2009 4:41 pm

Since this semester went to shit (I wasn't able to get either of the classes I needed), I've been trying to be a bit more productive with my time (okay, so my account for Warhammer Online has run out as well).
Nevertheless:
I finished up Cesar's army
I'm getting models finished to sell on ebay (painted stuff tends to move better... and at better prices)
I've also been working more on my own stuff as well

My current draw has been back to Lord of the Rings (I think painting up those wood elves sparked something).

Here is a picture of my first 4 finished Rohirrim along with Erkenbrand (mounted and on foot):

For the most part I had those 4 riders finished up a while back, just some detail work was needed.
Of course its been so long I'm having a hard time trying to remember just what I did painting those models... makes it difficult to start work on any of the others.

When I have the money I definately need to pick up a fully armored Theoden (I'm looking at the Pelennor model), Eomer, and Eowyn. I have Gamling (with the banner) and will get to work on him soon.

Top notch job, I wish my Rohirrim look like that.

Are you going to play? Or are you just painting for the hobby aspect.

Thank you.

I have every interest in playing Lord of the Rings (I own everything needed... or at least decent representations for everything needed for the entire Fellowship of the Ring campaign), I'm just not sure if I'll ever get around to it while still in Miami.

However building and painting the models has always been one of the strongest draws to the games for me. Which is one of the main reason I stick with GW's stuff. To me they have some of the best looking models out there. I enjoy the systems to an extent as well (especially with others who don't mind making house rules to cover any problems).

Here are 4 more riders I have finished up.

I think I managed to effectively copy the color scheme of the original 4.
(Some of you might also notice that I retook the first picture... I wasn't overly happy with it)

A retaken image of Erkenbrand along with the 8 finished rohirrim amonst some of my terrain:

And now Eomer:

I picked him up recently because I like this verison of the model over the newer one... and since I don't know how fast the finecast stuff is going to come out I wanted to get my hands on this model before it might end up being too late because I'm fairly sure that the new model would become the finecast one and the old would be removed from the line.
