Yet another thing that we need to decide upon till its been FAQ'd...

Ok, this came up with me and jerry...
When casting a spell such as natures wrath against a formation with shields do you think the shield bonus counts? Every game I've played until now we have said no. That makes sense to me. What do you guys think ?

I see no reason to deny a unit their full defensive value unless sepcified (attack in flank; rear; shatter shields spell, etc).

If you cast on a unit with D of 4(6), they use the 6.

It depends, but I would venture to say that they should get it. Then again, this is a purely as thought out decision.

The spell says "... the formation that is targeted" and the caster is not able to use it if he does not have line of site, there by indicating a blast. Unlike some spells where it effects every formation except the casters. That to me is omni diretional.

However it also says that formations in defensible terrain do not get any bonus.

No D terrain bonus (as specified), but you'd still get your shield bonus.

see...Natures wrath I think is supposed to be like in the book/movie the wall of water that turns in to horses and wipes out the wraiths....or maybe in open ground a big wall of dirt and grass or something. I just don't see how a shield is going to help you with that.
