My Tournament List (Gondor)

Post by Frantic on Wed Jun 03, 2009 10:21 am

3 companies of Black Root Vale Archers - 180pts

3 companies of Rangers of Gondor with a captain - 140pts

3 companies of KoMT with shields and a captain - 140pts

2 companies of WoMT with a captain and a banner - 135

595 pts. Probably not the most effective thing ever but I like playing this list.

Army of the Dead King (4 Co) - 265
Rangers of Gondor (3 co) - 90
Knight of Minas Tirith, Shields (3 Co) - 90
Vault Wardens (1 Co) - 70
Dwarf Ballista - 60
Forgotten Fortifications (fortune) - 25

600 even

I was on a really good win streak with this list before Sunday when Prince Imrahil ripped me too pieces. Oscar did a pretty good number on me in round 3 as well.

NEEDS MORE MIGHT!

As soon as I get my elves and galadriel, I'll be swearing by epic renewal/touched by destiny heroes. One free might point to give away per turn. I believe for gondor the similar solution is Gandalf.

Start working on a 800 or 1000 point army list for the next tournament.

For me personally it's more a matter of having enough might at the time to spend it.

Sure things like Epic Renewal and Touched by Destiny are good, but alot of turns you won't be burning 1 might point at a time. Half the way I put so much damage into Bill's Army of the Dead is by burning all 3 of my Might points in a turn.

So 1 extra a turn I'm not at all complaining about, don't get me wrong. I just always like to make sure I've got enough Might floating about.

It's also helpful to have multiple Might users (IMO).

Agreed Dan. Thats why in the tourney I had a captain in every company.

But a constant inflow of might points makes it hurt a little less to burn the base points. for instance, d6 auto hits from legolas's epic shot is ridiculous, but he only has 3 might points, with epic renewal it can be used as a staple of the shoot phase, and in just four turns it can turn the tide of any battle.

Yes, but very few characters have those options for something every turn like Epic Shot.

Things like Touched by Destiny and Epic Renewal are good but need to be remembered. These are EPIC actions after all, not a constant chain-gun auto-hit ballista Laughing

Right, but then if you're not "chain-gunning" with legolas, that one spare might point can become even more versatile, serving a different purpose each turn and making a big difference in the endgame.

Dan - would you mind posting your list from Sunday. That was pretty tough.

Sure! It's also in the battle orders section under my AAR but I'll make a seperate Thread here for it.
