What are CC and 2iC good for?
First, the obvious is the re-roll the CC gives.
Second, the platoons they are attached too have
slightly more firepower and some else to take a hit.
Third, what they are really good for is appointing
a new platoon leader when the original buys it.
This does not matter much to the Germans. For
the Brits. it's really good. A platoon commander
has the same weapons and ROF as a regular team.
Without a platoon leader, a platoon can't move. A
2iC can appoint a team the new leader in one platoon,
then move to another that has stalled from a lost
leader and appoint a new leader in that platoon.
What is weird is in the American forces platoon
leaders are armed with carbines instead of rifles.
So the newly appointed lead platoon team will have
to throw down their rifles and pick up some carbines.

good post, the only thing that I would add is that if you were to attach the 2ic to a platoon it doesnt increase the size of the platoon for motivations checks but it would count against you if destroyed when you count up destroyed teams to see when a motivation test is needed.

Another point is that your 2iC can lead your HQ attachments (like bazookas or anti-air stuff, etc.) freeing up your CC to run amok with the squads.
Without either 2iC or the CC those HQ attachments can't move on their own (as they are leaderless platoons).
Otherwise good post!
