Which Slayer Winner Entry is the Best
Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
This is a contest run by GW to see who is the best painter among all the GD winners from this year's 4 Games Day tournaments.
As you can see, only three of them were able to participate, and they kept the painters anonymous this time until after the contest to avoid bias (like picking the russian chick cause she's hot)
Go to the site http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=4300026
Take a good look at all of them and then vote here.

Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
I must say, as a decent painter myself, obviously all 3 of these candidates are awesome.
But if I have to pick one, I'd go with Gaelus, the Blue guy.
The shadowing and the mixing of red and blue on the base is just ridiculous.
Festus is a close second to me because the rust/corruption on the armour is some of the best work I've ever seen.
All 3 are just amazing really. I suspect oddly enough, that Gaelus is the product of the russian chick, Natalia Melnick.

Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
I prefer Faetus, the rusted and corrupted look on him really sold it. That and the lovely gore/open stomach he has.
To Waaagh, or Not to Waaagh? That is the Question
Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
Dude, the Gaelus model is incredible.....look at all the freehand work on the loincloth and cape. Just incredible talent. Hands down Gaelus. I like the nurgle champ...but the Tzeentch champ was painted by an artist, not a miniature painter.
Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
Definitely Festus! The weathering on his armor is breathtaking.

Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
i like Festus, but Gaelus wins with that AWESOME sneer and base and freehand work on the cape, damn.
Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
Festus. The intestine showing and weathering are awsome...plus I play Nurgle.

How to use a Bayonet
1. Affix bayonet to mounting lug.
2. Charge enemy, keep bayonet between yourself and target.
3. Plunge bayonet into enemy's belly in an upward motion, aiming for vital organs and avoiding ribcage.
4. Repeat as necessary.

Oddly enough guys,
If you go back to the page it says that Balthazar, the one that NONE of us picked, won the contest.
Just goes to show, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
Holy crap, I'm in awe of just the colors on the base of Gaelus.
Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
The conversion for Festus was great...painting is good, but for that level of painter, not out of this world (for the average schmoe it is awesome, but from a 'Eavy Metal level painter, I guess I expect more from a painting point of view). Again, the modeling...awesome.
I had to go with Gaelus because of the free hand work on his cape, loin cloth and all that. He stood out the most to me. The Balthazar was nice, but again, nothing great for that level of painter...minor conversion (nothing like Festus), and nice clean paint job. So, Gaelus it is for me.

Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
I agree., Balthezar was very clean looking, but probably the worst of all three.

Re: Slayer Sword Contest for Best Chaos Lord
Very clean good conversion work on Balth. Tzeentch looks cartoonie and the nurgle only has good conversion value, the Slannesh dude looks SUPER crisp and the blending technique used is awesome the is also heavily converted to boot.
