WAAAAGH this brother! Land Speeder Tempest

In prep for the upcoming Apoc battle, it was just the excuss I needed to finally get one of these. More effective in a squad I'm sure but I really liked the set up for this model and the look of a Space marine Fighter and not just a skimmer even though that is what it is. Took me all day yesterday to do this one so I would say about 12 hours of straight work through with breaks and all for sanity checks. I still need to do the base for it but for now I'm happy to let her stand and move on to another project until I get the base to do it right.
Ny only regret is not having the white templar cross on the underside of the wings as that is where my decals took a crap on me and I have no extra ones.... life is pain. I also need more forgeworld brass icons after this. Oh yeah brownie points for those that notice the Inquisitorial Rossette. Oh yeah... the pilot does come out. Couldn't bring myself to hide the seat detail by glueing him in.

Thanks! I hinged the cockpit so I could lock it open or closed to keep the pilot from flipping out when the model is handled.

Bad ass. Im going to the 40k tournament at Joels, I read you wont be making it. Too bad my men would have loved to shoot that tin can out of the air.

2. Charge enemy, keep bayonet between yourself and target.
3. Plunge bayonet into enemy's belly in an upward motion, aiming for vital organs and avoiding ribcage.
4. Repeat as necessary.

DAmn damn damn.... I've been wanting to take out the trash for a long time now. besides I think our armies would like bad ass going against one another. But since I'm doing the APOC tourny that Sunday I can't get a two day pass.

Re: WAAAAGH this brother! Land Speeder Tempest
Do you have tips for painting black vehicles to give them life?
Re: WAAAAGH this brother! Land Speeder Tempest
- Wow.... thought this post was dead;) I tend to notice my post have a shelf life of three days of comments.
- Really depends on what you mean by give them life. I tend to do (and I've heard alot about beginners technique lately but it still is good) a dry brush with Codex grey over the edges of the black hull. If I want the grey to stand out sharper and not have a metallic look I do another dry brush with fortress grey followed by a very (and I mean very) light touch up with skull white along the edges.
- Now if you want a metallic shean, you will want to take boltcun metal or mithril silver depending on how bright you wnat it and dry brush the entire hull and ensuring you hit corners a little harder than the rest of the vehicle. In some cases you may wish to actualy take a thin brush and water down some mithril silver and highlight a edge that would be a normal rub or wear point on a vehicle as it is used daily.
- I hope this helps but I also can not stress enough the importance of adding things like purity seals, free hand holy scripture on the holy, or even brass icons. All those can reall make your model stand out. feel free to see my Vindicator post I placed on here and you will see what I mean.
PS. Sorry about the typoes. I don't edit before I hit post. and I tend to type rather fast. Spell check is definatly my best friend.

One last thing... Gold stands out really well on black. Thats why i tend to highlight bolt patters in gold or even silver depending on my chapter and the importance I want to stress for the vehicle.

Just wish it was a flier. Thing as a quarter the size bigger than a standard land raider.
