Decal transfers
My Forgeworld Land Speeder Tempest is 95%.... It was 99% but all the trasnfer sheets as of this morning peeled and flacked. Needless to say I don't have any large white templar crosses and won't waste my only Sisters of battle trasnfer sheets trying to get this to work again so I'm just using my forgeworld brass and my templar resin icons.
My question is where did I go wrong? I cleaned the area well. I made sure it was moist and brushed the decals on. then used a piece of napkin to soak up the excess water and let it dry in place.
Now I know there is a chemical to soften and attack these decals but I don't have it. just suprised it went off. Maybe if I had coated the model in matte after wards it would have sealed it but I don't tend to do that as it seals up my gloss coats and can generally lead to fogging which I Hate.
Anyway if anyone has some tips please share as I'm really torked off since I spent all day yesterday getting this beast ready for the Apoc battle and now have to clean up my resin Black templar icons and prep them today to get this beast done. I'll post pics before COB (Close of Business).

Re: Decal transfers
After I always place the decals, I dry them with a paper towel then I brush some gloss clearcoat on and around the decals.
This does 2 things. First, it smooths out the decal and removes most of the inperfections. And second, it protects them from the spray matte coat I use on my figs.
I have noticed that without brushing the gloss clearcoat, the area around the decal which is not colored looks milky white and it also wrinkles from the matte spray.
I hope this helps.

Re: Decal transfers
Mike, the most recent episode of 40K Radio covers transfers. They say that they need to be attached to a glossy area also using a product called Micro-Sol which will break down the decal a bit to allow it to form to the model better.
