Tourney Results

Post by jerryb on Tue Jul 22, 2008 1:02 pm

Will Horner won first place and was awarded $60.00
Dave Thomas second and awarded $40.00
Andy Jensen third $25.00
Eric (Hurricane?) Fourth $15.00, Eric call Joel, you have more credit.
Ric Fifth $10.00

The entry fee was $5.00, so the very least all players double there money.

I thought the tournament ran pretty smoothly considering it was my first time for me as judge.

This is your opportunity to make suggestion (or bash me), on what you want to see to improve.

I admit the first round ran too long.

Also, again, all future tournaments will be the last Sunday of the month or not at all.

31 August is the next date and the second time it has been officially posted. I will take all the blame for this month's confusion.

I would like to see late war scenario as there is a lot of source material. How do feel about have late war tournaments?

I don't have Festung Europa so I'll have to pass if you do Late War. Honestly I'm a bit tight with money right now, so I won't be buying that book any time soon.

Jerry,
I'm not sure if alot of people have late war armies, but I guess I can start off the response by saying that I do. So I'll go either way.

Ric,
I have Festung Europa as a PDF. How can I send it over to you?

Okay, just seeing how everyone feels about Late War.
May be this is a good poll question.

I believe most of my army is Middle War, some units may overlap (mid/late).

Buy the book then Rick. There's a novel idea.

How to use a Bayonet
1. Affix bayonet to mounting lug.
2. Charge enemy, keep bayonet between yourself and target.
3. Plunge bayonet into enemy's belly in an upward motion, aiming for vital organs and avoiding ribcage.
4. Repeat as necessary.

Rick your army will be fine in late war, you just need the FE book or army builder or an excell file from the Army list forum on Battlefront. Not much changes for a Panzer Grenedier army except the points. You could throw in a tiger and some air to round out your points.

Jerry, I thought the tournament ran fairly well for your first time. I would like to see some type of bonus or points for a fully painted army and maybe even points for a Historical type write up on your company. Just my 2 cents. I thought the sportsmanship was superb by all the participants. I even controlled my dice throwing urges! Laughing

Hurricane, thank you for your assessment of my running the tournament.

Suggestion: Player gets extra points for have an army that is painted, have an accurate army list using an excel or Army Builder application.

This would only be used as a tie breaker, or would you prefer as for all situations?

The term "painted army" would constitute 75% or more of the units paint with at least 3 colors.

Glad to hear that the tournament went well, I didn't know it was going on until yesterday.

As far as how FOW tournaments are run, here is how they did it at NashCon.

10 % Painting (score of 1 to 5)
10% Historical (background, etc.)
80 % Generalship.

Hope that helps, you can do whatever with it. Most if not all armies tranfer over pretty easily for Late War.

Then some type of polling or method of agreeing on the point system so every player knows what to expect when participating in a tournament.
